Sootcase

Freight CO₂e following the GLEC Framework and ISO 14083

Recommendations

Upload your shipments: Sootcase tries changes in four of the GLEC Framework's five areas for reducing freight emissions: other transport modes (road to rail, inland waterway or short sea, air to sea or rail, other sea ports), fuller loads, larger trucks, and electric or bio-LNG trucks. It calculates each with the same method as the shipment itself and lists the ones that lower emissions. Filter and pick below: the totals change at once. Results are scenarios, not reported emissions.

What this doesn't know. Transit times and costs; whether a train, barge or ferry actually runs on the lane; which terminals handle containers or trailers; shipping dates for combining loads. New rail, waterway and sea legs run between terminals, with road to the nearest one, and each terminal handling counts GLEC v3.3's intermodal terminal value (none for airports or Ro-Ro: no GLEC value). Full list under the results.
